While we know the Lexus GS 430 isn’t a performance overachiever, we also know that most people have no idea about the car. After all, Lexus has been accused of being too “boring” and not caring about making cars that are fun to drive, although that perception has increasingly shifted. Wait until people see this turbocharged GS 430 build and see how it rips, because it’s really something to see.

Just wait until you see how much repairing a wrecked Lexus LFA could cost.

Built by Original Auto in Los Angeles, we’re not necessarily crazy about the way it looks. Some people will love the wheels and tires with the slight negative camber, but they are a little too “stance” for our tastes. The carbon fiber hood isn’t really a letdown, but there’s a clear giveaway from the start: this isn’t a standard GS with some wheels and a nice hood.

Those with sharp eyes will notice right away: the secondary headlight on the passenger side is gone, replaced by a carbon fiber intake. When you know, you know.

Under the hood of this Lexus is the 3UZ, an engine that might not get everyone excited, but which the man who runs the Roads Untraveled channel on YouTube says is “the LS of the Japanese world.” It takes quite a good time to boost and with upgraded internals it becomes a beastly rush.

Original Auto apparently abandoned the bottom end of the factory engine stock, preferring to put resources into the top end. The engine is backed by a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission donated by an F10 Bimmer.

The claimed power for this setup is 400 Whp, a fair amount above factory specs. It’s nothing too wild and with upgraded rods that number could probably increase quickly, but this build doesn’t go that extreme.

That makes sense, since this is more of a VIP build than a masterpiece. Of course, the interior is more luxurious than standard, with Alcantara, quilted leather and more upgrades. This just goes to show that if you can get your hands on one of these cars, you can still have fun and increase the performance for more entertainment while cruising around town in comfort. Only we would make the wheels and tires differently.
